How I Systematized My Paper Journaling Routine

How I Turned a YouTube Video into a Year-Long Journaling System

I can't do simple tasks without creating entire systems.

A few days ago, a video on YouTube caught my attention about paper journaling. These videos totally light me up. After watching this video, a normal person may be led to immediately pull out their journal and begin writing.

For me, I downloaded this person’s 100 prompts and loaded them into my PKM of choice, Reflect. I then converted the notion database to markdown so I could easily peruse these journal prompts in my preferred format. I then expanded the library to 100 prompts by using my higher self prompt (I’ll break this down someday).

Next, I created this full out plan for the entire year, mapping out every prompt to the specific day I would use it, so I could easily see what I’m working on each day. I did all of this without even noticing really. It was like something took over my body and had to do this first.

THEN, I finally wrote a journal entry on the page.

Nothing feels better than executing a new system. I’m on day 3 of paper journaling. This isn’t my first go at this.

I decided to set a soft goal of journaling on paper two days per week, with the option to extend it to five days. I don’t want to put too much pressure on myself, but it has been really easy with the context and reflection method laid out by Reysu.

His video on journaling below is worth a watch! Check it out.

Do you want want me to write about anything I left out? Tell me in a reply :)
