Locker, Linear, and why I'm doubling down on owning your ideas

Building a personal knowledge base, ditching platform limits, and what I’m shipping next.

Hi friendos

It's spring over here. Been trying to get the chicken coop built, but... we might’ve gone a little too hard on the plans. It's a big boy. Still gotta bury a bunch of hardware cloth around it.

The thing I’m most excited about right now though is the Locker project.

Building Locker

Locker is a tool we’re building to solve a big problem:

Most people have no idea how to actually capture and organize their ideas in a way that lasts.

The knowledge base space is a mess. Too complicated. Too bloated.

We’re building Locker to make it dead simple.

Mainly by focusing on async conversations or recording ideas as they happen, without extra steps.

Right now, the stack is React Native with Expo so we can publish ios and android. Our team uses Cursor to move fast. I’m building the front end first, getting it to feel right before we wire up the full backend and database.

We’re close to pushing our first test build through Apple’s TestFlight. Waiting impatiently for the approval for that.

One thing that’s been hitting me hard lately:

If you depend on other people's platforms, you’re screwed long-term.

I’m fighting with the GPT Team Plan right now. I pay for my whole team, but I get usage limits. Can’t access certain models. Can’t use tools like Operator. My whole history is tangled up too. Don’t think I can export. It sucks.

And it’s exactly why I'm so fired up about building Locker.

You shouldn't lose your best ideas just because some company changes their plans or locks you out. Your ideas should live with you. Local. Tool-agnostic. Yours forever.

Other projects and updates

  • Skool + Ads Lab: We’re going hard on building knowledge bases for businesses first, then spinning marketing ideas out of that. It feels like the future. It's fun to push the edge of it.

  • Awake Happy: I have two drops fully ready to go. Just haven't had the day it takes to do all the metadata and posting. (I’ll drop the Pink Moon design below even though I missed the actual Pink Moon timing, still love the piece.)

  • Team tools: Finally got my team onto Linear for project management. Motion was too heavy for everyone. Linear's built for devs but it's clean and fast, and it’s actually working across a mixed team. Huge win.

Posting again

Starting to post more on X (Twitter). Honestly... feels like yelling into a void right now. Most of my feed is people getting a ton of responses while I’m out here talking to myself 😂

But I'm sticking with it. Using Typefully to batch my posts so I don't have to live on X. It’s simple and it works. I like seeing the calendar view and analytics without having to see a million people’s opinions.

Typefully analytics

Typefully schedule

That’s the update for now.

Glad you're here. Thanks for being on this list. 🙂
