A Big Ass Assortment of Interesting Photos of New York

I went to New York and took a bunch of photos roaming around.

Waiting at the crosswalk at Bryant Park

First of all, I’ve never been to New York City. I ended up flying here for work, so I decided to make something of my weekend.

My camera rental consisted of a Sony A7S with a Canon L Series 24–105 f4.0. All I wanted were the basics.

The only place I could find that would rent to me last minute was a video production gear rental facility. This actually sucked because the camera didn’t come with a strap and the pelican case was really dumb for running all over town. Beggars can’t be choosers. Around noon on a Saturday I hit the streets.

Please let me know if you’d like to use any of these photos.

Hiding in the bush during some sweet table tennis games in the park. This guy looks like Josh Peck.

Some kind of Jared symbolism?

Exploring around the Rockefeller Center

A beautifully overcast day

I wandered around Bryant Park and the Rockefeller Center for a few hours. It soon started sprinkling so I decided to duck under a hot dog stand and hang out with the dude. Obviously I bought some street meat and a pop pop.

The rain eventually died out and I walked up to Central Park. Man, that place is really moving. Talk about diversity.

There were many many pickup games going on. GO SPORTS!

There was a bubble man.

There was funky disco rollerskating going on.

Obligatory shots of what I thought was the Friends fountain

I watched these kids ride down the stairs over and over again secretly wishing they would eat it and I would get some crazy crash shot but in the end they would be ok. That didn’t happen so I moved on.

It was time to take the subway home to do a memory dump and recharge. The New York Subway is gritty as hell, but damn it’s efficient. Here are several pictures of strangers that hate me.

I think it’s a universal feeling. Everyone loves getting their picture taken in the subway station.

Before I got home I decided to take a quick walk around China Town. There were a lot of interesting textures and people.

Alright that’s it, going back to the hotel for the night.

That’s my full day of Manhattan. Tomorrow I’m hitting up the free ferry to Staten Island. Sorry if this is the most cliche New York visit ever.

I grabbed a CitiBike and biked from my hotel in SOHO down to Battery Park. It was such a beautiful ride.

I don’t think there is a better way to capture a selfie.

After getting off the ferry I hung out at the St. George Station. The River Dock Cafe was a great place to grab a drink before I spent some time in the city. From the station I yelped for the closest decent cheapish food. I ended up walking about 20 minutes over to Pier 76. This place seemed like it was going to be neat but the calamari pizza ended up taking an hour and it was pretty bland. Needless to say, I decided to just head back to Manhattan because it looked like it was going to rain and I was seriously just bored with the area.

Taking the ferry back

There is no better way to pass the time than a nice big fish tank.

Wait, here it is. This is the best way to capture a selfie.

And the thunder rolls

A buoy metaphor for how the day felt

After all was said and done, I just wanted to go back to my hotel.

Sexy view from my hotel window

The last supper was fancy grilled cheese and sweet potato tots. I actually think about how damn great this meal was all the time.

I took this photo in my hotel room with all the lights off and only ambient light coming from my laptop screen. I proclaimed to all my photographer friends they can’t touch this 14,000 ISO. A7S for life.
